چکیده
Abstract Shear strength of unsaturated soils is an important engineering property that required for addressing geotechnical problems, the prediction which remains to be a challenging task design engineers due complex interaction problem. This study presents new shear equation based on micromechanical model and disturbed state concept soils. The original point this considering solid contact area ratio was neglected in most existing equations. Using proposed model, non-linear relationship between matric suction, saturation degree, are described. Validation verified against experimental data several current models six different types results indicate has good performance predicting soils, generally better than other models. In response varying climatic conditions, analytical then extended consider effect temperature comparison predicted measured carried out compacted silt three temperatures. show capable accurately changes as function temperature.

Theoretical Undrained Shear Behaviour of Unsaturated Soils
Prediction method for undrained shear behaviour of unsaturated soils is discussed in this paper. Based on Original Cam Clay model, authors have proposed constitutive model for unsaturated soils that the effect of water content is incorporated into superloading surface concept. Firstly, stress path of constant volume shear test is formulated under constant void ratio condition. And relationship ...

Geophysical down-hole surveys can be used to measure the small strain dynamic properties of soils by the effects these properties have on wave propagation. The relevant effects include amplitude decay (corrected for beam divergence) and velocity dispersion. In this paper, down-hole data collected during the GeoInstitute's Denver 2000 field day are presented and analyzed as a Kelvin-Voigt solid....
متن کاملInvestigation of Shear Strength Anisotropy of c- &phi Soils
Cohesive-frictional soils are widely used in the construction of embankment structures and due to the method of construction, i.e. applying compactive efforts in the vertical direction in these cases, the occurrence of anisotropy in the soil strength and permeability seems to be inevitable. In this study, attempts have been made to evaluate the shear strength of c-f soils through modifying a l...
متن کاملThe Correlation between the CBR and Shear Strength in Unsaturated Soil Conditions
In pavement design, the CBR and direct shear tests are two very common laboratory investigations for predicting the strength of a subgrade layer. The relationship between the CBR and water content has been commonly presented in analyses, with the result of the direct shear being expressed from the aspect of effective cohesion and the internal friction angle. Even though most natural soil is in...
